Tori’s Story - A New Beginning with Paws2freedom...
🐾 Hi, I’m Tori – or as some like to call me, Victoria Sponge Cake! 🐾
I’m a 3 year old Border Collie girl (born on 7/8/21), and I’m looking for someone to believe in me. Life hasn’t always been easy, and it’s left me feeling quite unsure about new people. I’ll admit, I have a deep distrust of strangers and sometimes my behaviour can be unpredictable. But it’s not my fault; I didn’t get the care, socialisation or training I needed when I was younger, so I’ve had to learn to look out for myself.
Abandoned and with nowhere to go, my life changed when a kind young man stepped in to save me. But my unpredictable behaviour, driven by fear and insecurity, made me a danger to the young children in his home. The situation became desperate and I faced a heartbreaking ultimatum: find help or face euthanasia 😢
Paws2Freedom couldn’t let that happen! They stepped in and gave me my last chance at hope. ❤️
At the moment I’m being cared for at a boarding kennel by a kind lady who loves Border Collies and is doing her best to help me feel safe. Unfortunately, I’ve struggled with my fear and insecurity and I have bitten her. I know it’s not the way to show how much I appreciate her care, but my fear sometimes gets the better of me. This is why I desperately need professional rehabilitation to help me overcome these behaviours and learn to trust again.
Once I get to know you I can be really lovely! I’ve also played with other dogs and get along with a lot of them really well! But I still need to learn to feel more at ease around others – it’s something I’m working on. 🐾
Before Paws2Freedom was alerted to my plight, I had already lost two homes because of my unpredictable behaviour. Now, they are my last chance and they’re determined to do everything they can to make my future a happy one. ❤️
I seem to be in good health, but I still need to get up-to-date vaccinations and a full health check to make sure I’m in the best shape possible for my journey ahead. At some point I will also need to be spayed, but this will be considered carefully during my behaviour rehabilitation journey.
Right now, I’m about to start a new chapter at a rehabilitation kennel (CBRC), where kind, experienced people will help me feel more balanced and confident. It’s exactly what I need to overcome my insecurities and find peace. After my rehabilitation, I’ll either be adopted if possible or become a forever foster with Paws2Freedom, where I’ll continue to be cared for in a safe and loving environment.
But here’s where I need your help. My stay at CBRC isn’t free – it costs about £750 each month, and because I’ve got a lot to work through, it’s going to be a long-term arrangement.
